Surprise Proposal FAQs

Everything
You Need To Know
In one place
Hiding in plain sight
I like to hide in plain sight. On the day, when you arrive I will already be there with a camera set up on a tripod, obviously a landscape photographer and obviously not interested in you.
Because of this approach, I always recommend a location that is beautiful but also easy to find.
That way, your other half won't (a) wonder why you are taking her on a mission to some mysterious and unspecified location (b) get suspicious when you arrive at said mysterious location and there's a photographer there.
Pricing
I have included my pricing right here on this page because it makes your life and wedding planning easier. And that's the whole idea.
Reviews
I have (as we speak) 103 Google Reveiws and every single one of them is 5 stars. You can check them out here.
On the day instructions
On the day before our shoot I will send any last minute instructions. These will typically include any additional location directions/info but also instructions. The instructions are basically 2 things;
#1 Try to stand side on to me/my camera when you propose so I can see both faces (obviously I can move around but I will be standing where I'm standing because it offers the best view behind you).
#2 Stay down on one knee for as long as you can. Because it allows me to get more shots but also because it's a once in a lifetime moment so why not make it last?
I will keep ignoring you and taking landscape photos until you drop down on one knee/give me a pre-arranged signal. At that point, I will pull my second camera out and away we go.
Check my availability
To find out if I am available on your preferred wedding date/s, please get in touch via the contact form at the bottom of this page. I will reply within 24 hours.
Turnaround time
Unless we shoot very late or I advise you otherwise, I will have a handful of low res edited images to you that night (ie same day). I will usually have all your images edited and ready to deliver within 1 - 2 days but you do need to pay your balance first before I can send them to you.

About Me
I have been shooting weddings in Queenstown for nearly twenty years now (and I think I'm really starting to get the hang of it!).
"Relaxed, natural, fun" is my motto when it comes to photography and I make it my mission to ensure your wedding day is every bit of that!
If this sounds like your cup of tea, I'd love to hear from you.

FAQ
I aim to provide every client approximately 50 edited images per hour of shooting. This is not a guarantee as sometimes the light or weather won't let us capture images as quickly. Having said that, I normally deliver more than this.
Because I often shoot several variations on the one angle and editing is very time consuming, I pick out the best shots and edit and deliver those. As an example, at a 4 hour wedding I might shoot 1200 images and I would likely deliver around 200 - 250 to the client.
Unfortunately, no. The best I can explain the reason why is this;
Imagine you go to a cake baker and you say to them "I really like your cakes but I'm not sure I like your icing. Can I buy some cake batter from you so I can make my own cake?".
Honestly, if you don't dig my editing, don't book me - book a photographer whose work including editing style you dig. Everybody will be much happier that way.
I don't shoot video but I can recommend some great local Wedding Videographers. Just get in touch via the form on this page for more info.
You can pay your balance after the wedding if you wish. I do ask for payment in full before I deliver the full edit though so don't leave it too long.
You sure can. We accept Visa and Mastercard but not Amex or Diners.
I used to be really uncomfortable shooting at venues or locations I was unfamiliar with. But these days I love it - it allows me to see with fresh eyes! I will also scout any unknown locations if possible before your wedding day. Got a new location or venue for me? Bring it on!
