I knew from the moment I met them that Donald & Giverny were my kind of people. I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding day because it would be relaxed, natural and a hell of a lot of fun!
How could I not love every minute of their wedding? These two are a super-awesome local Queenstown couple. They married at what is quite possibly my favourite-est (sorry for the terrible English mum) wedding venue in Queenstown – Thurlby Domain!
Their unconventional wedding had no aisle, no bridal party, a black (slightly) Goth wedding dress, a bouquet made of carrots, and rings on the wrong fingers! Guests sat on blankets on bean bags picnic style! They were married by a friend who is possibly the youngest wedding celebrant in NZ – she’s only 23! At another location, we shot some photos while high speed jet-boats flew by. We finished the day with a totally relaxed and fun wedding reception in a local pub.
This beautiful day was every bit as magical, awesome and fun as I knew it would be. The weather was perfect for the couple and myself … cloudy with occasional warm golden sunlight. At the end of the day, D&G’s wedding photos look A-MAZ-ING (even if I do say so myself)!
Thank you, Giverny & Donald, for being awesome people and for having me as a part of your wedding day. If every wedding I shot was exactly like this I wouldn’t be complaining!
